1. Who We Are
TaxMarg ("we", "us", "our") is an AI platform for Indian Chartered Accountants and tax professionals, operated by Kathan Mehta. TaxMarg is not a registered company at this time. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
2. Data We Collect
- Account data: Email, name, firm name (provided during signup)
- Uploaded documents: Documents you upload to your vaults (Form 16, notices, GSTR returns, balance sheets, and any other tax documents)
- Chat messages and queries: Questions you ask and AI-generated responses
- Usage data: Queries made, workflows run, and related usage metrics for plan limit monitoring
3. How We Use Your Data
- Provide tax research and workflow services
- Improve response quality
- Monitor usage for plan limits
4. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell your data
- We do not share your data with third parties, except LLM providers for query processing (see Section 5)
- We do not use your data to train AI models
5. LLM Processing
Your queries and document content are sent to LLM providers (via OpenRouter) for processing. This is required to generate answers and run workflows. We do not control the data retention policies of these LLM providers. No personally identifiable information is sent beyond the query text and document content necessary to generate responses.
6. Data Storage
- Encryption: Data encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+)
- Document storage: Uploaded documents stored with AES-256 encryption
- Database: Encrypted with automated backups
7. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed, including your profile, vaults, documents, chats, and workflow results.
8. Cookies
- Authentication cookies: JWT tokens stored as httpOnly, secure cookies for session management
- We do not use tracking cookies
- We do not use third-party analytics cookies
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
